The Institute received the Natural Resource Conservation Communication, Conservation Partnerships Award in 2012 at the National Military Fish & Wildlife Association conference. The award is intended to recognize "those who foster fruitful partnerships benefiting natural resource conservation on military installations in support of the military mission."
IWS was nominated specifically for our wildlife management on Department of Defense lands on San Nicolas Island, CA. The Institute researches and protects threatened and endangered species which inhabit several military bases. Other than San Nicolas Island, these include: NALF San Clemente Island (CA), Ft. Bragg (SC), and Camp Adair & USACE Fern Ridge (OR).
We are honored to be recognized for our long-term commitment to supporting native species through active wildlife management.
