Track a Bald Eagle

A46 route mapFollow the movements of Bald Eagle A-46 (aka Stephen Jr), named by the San Francisco Zoo after Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert ("The Colbert Report"). You will need Google Earth to view this map. Click here to download Google Earth for free.

Click the map to follow A-46's flight path. Flight speed is 3 miles/second while on the mainland and a little slower while on the islands. You can stop, speed up, or reverse the tour at any time. You can pause and manipulate the image with the Google Earth controls on the right to look at the areas used by A-46.

If you want to be able to have more control over what you are seeing, you can open A-46's map with all the points and tour directly into Google Earth, where you can do such things as view photos along the flight path (check Street View under the Layers option and then click on the small camera icon when you see one). Simply open Google Earth, select File/Open, and copy the following link into the file name:
