Research/Career Interests
Since June 2023, I have been the Nonlead Ammunition Outreach Coordinator for the Institute for Wildlife Studies, based in central California. This program focuses on providing information to hunting and nonhunting stakeholder groups about the effects of lead ammunition on wildlife, as well as how the use of lead-free ammunition.
A few ways we do this are testing the different ammunition types on the market so that we have examples of how bullets perform to show to people. In addition, we host shooting demonstrations that allow people to directly compare the terminal performance of lead and lead-free bullets in their own weapons.
A lifetime of hunting and fishing drives my love for conservation and wildlife, which led me to a career focused on the communication of scientific information. It is important for all who interact with the ecosystem and wildlife to make informed decisions.
