Mountain Lions in Northeastern California
A juvenile male mountain lion was feeding on the carcass of a deer that had been killed by his mother. He had already “left home” a few months earlier and his mother had a new litter of kittens. While still her offspring, she takes this opportunity to “explain” that her food is no longer his food
The Story of Garth
In collaboration with the U.S. Navy and the Santa Barbara Zoo, IWS biologists took care of an orphaned San Clemente Island Fox puppy named Garth. Following is short video about Garth's recovery and transfer to the zoo, where he will become part of the community outreach program as an ambassador for endangered species on the Channel Islands.
