Research/Career Interests

I work for IWS in 2023 as a member of the Predator Research and Ecosystem Management crew on San Clemente Island.  My main duties are to manage invasive predators and monitor prey species to help preserve native fauna such as the island fox, San Clemente Bell’s sparrow, and San Clemente loggerhead shrike.

I was born and raised in Radcliffe, Iowa.  I spent nine years doing park maintenance for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Franklin County Conservation and Parks.  My career goals involved working with and studying wildlife, and in 2020 I made the decision to more directly follow those goals.  I began volunteering for population surveys of various species such as bats, monarch butterflies, frogs, and toads.  The knowledge and experience I gained in college, working in parks, and surveying a wide variety of wildlife has helped me land my current position and assist in the future conservation of San Clemente Island’s unique species.

Outside of work, my main passions are wildlife photography and birding. I strive to find ways to incorporate these interests into current and future work. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, and volunteering on citizen wildlife research projects.
