Research/Interests
I have been working on the San Clemente Island Loggerhead Shrike project since February 2022. After taking an Avian Ecology course during college, I became hooked on birds and have been doing field work with birds since summers between college and continuously since graduating in 2019. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, but my various field jobs have allowed me to also live and work in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Brazil, and now California.
I still highly enjoying traveling to new places and learning all about different species and habitats. Having previously worked full field seasons with Golden-winged Warblers, Kirtland’s Warblers, Golden-cheeked Warblers, Black-capped Vireos, and Gray Vireos, I have a passion for the protection of threatened and endangered species – especially as it relates to negative anthropogenic impacts on fauna and their habitats. I have worked primarily with songbirds, but also spent the fall of 2020 working with owls, and a few weeks in Brazil in 2019 with shorebirds. As well, I have spent considerable time target-mist netting for particular species
In my free time I love traveling and taking road trips for birding, as well as hiking, running, drinking mochas, petting dogs, and reading.
